November in the Marsh

I was thinking that this would be the day I would limit out on reds and maybe even catch a flounder or two.

I was up before daylight (much less sunrise) and unloading the boat at McNab in the fog.

The tide was way up and visibility was just a few feet. I headed in towards the lake and for a while thought maybe the fish had all gone out to the bay.

I finally found some feeding fish but they were way back inside the cordgrass in areas that I couldn't even navigate in the yak.

On the trip out I came across several fish working the edges of the main channel but they weren't having anything I was throwing. I tried spoons, topwaters, gulp and plastics but they were keyed in on something else.

It was great to be on the water and I'm thankful for a fishing experience - even if I got skunked!

Little by little the understanding soaks in " It was never about the fish anyway. "
